2009 Yaris
Introduction
The all new 2009 Toyota Yaris is an affordable passenger car in the Toyota model line-up. The front-wheel driven 2009 Toyota Yaris is available as a hatchback (three-door or five-door) or a four-door sedan in either Base or S trim. For 2009, Toyota has introduced a new five-door hatchback model. Anti-lock brakes and side curtain airbags have joined the list of standard equipment with some updated exterior features.
Exterior Design and Special Features
Sleek design and plenty of interior space define the 2009 Toyota Yaris. The base trim comes standard with P175/65R14 tires on steel wheels, cloth bucket seats, and manual tilting steering wheel. The S trim gets P185/60R15 tires and an AM/FM stereo radio with a single CD player.
Multi-reflector halogen headlamps, integrated fog lamps, intermittent windshield wipers, rear window wiper, color-keyed outside mirrors-door handles, rear spoiler, and a roof-mounted antenna are some of the standard exterior features while the 15-inch aluminum alloy wheels with P185/60R15 tires is available as an option.
Optitron speedometer and tachometer with LCD odometer, twin tripmeters and fuel level gauge, airbag, seatbelt, low-fuel level, door-ajar, battery, check engine, oil pressure, ABS and brake warning lights, AM/FM CD player with MP3/WMA playback capability, auxiliary audio jack, satellite radio capability, and CD text display function with iPod interface are some of the standard interior equipments. The available cargo space is 9.32 cubic feet.
Engine
A 106 horsepower 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine powers the 2009 Toyota Yaris. The five-door hatchback model is fitted with a four-speed automatic transmission. The three-door hatchback and sedan models come standard with a five-speed manual transmission; a four-speed automatic is available as an option. The hatchback and sedan models have been designed separately and have subtle interior and exterior differences but have similar standard features.
Safety
Driver front airbag and front passenger airbag with Advanced Airbag System, driver and front passenger front seat-mounted side airbags and front and rear side curtain airbags, 4-wheel anti-lock brake system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), child restraint system (CRS) with lower anchors and top tether anchors (LATCH), and child-protector rear door locks are some of the standard safety features.
